GMS Inc. has announced the appointment of its Chief Human Resources Officer Khara Julien. She joined GMS in October 2014 as vice president of Human Resources.

Julien has since been a change agent fueling growth and development in the company’s HR and benefits administration.

GMS President and Chief Executive Officer G. Michael Callahan Jr. said the company’s board unanimously approved Julien’s promotion to the CHRO position, in addition to continuing as VP of HR. Callahan said she has had a “profound impact on the future of GMS.” “Khara has accomplished so much in such a relatively short period that I sometimes have to remind myself that she really hasn’t been at the company for that long a duration of time,” Callahan said. “She is a very critical member of the GMS leadership team. I feel very fortunate to call her a colleague.”

In her nearly three-year tenure, the company has acquired 19 companies and grown from 2,600 employees to 4,500 employees. She established a standard due-diligence and on-boarding process for acquisitions, while also recognizing that each new company is unique. In her new undertaking as CHRO,

Julien said she is looking forward to continuing employee-focused improvements at GMS. “I am excited to assume the CHRO role, where I can ensure the ongoing success of our talented employees nationwide. I look forward to working with the other members of the leadership team to further the current efforts and develop new goals and growth opportunities for GMS,” Julien said. Julien came to GMS from Owens Corning and Novelis. She was a recipient of a 2017 CHRO of the Year Awards Leaders of Distinction recognition. She has been in her new position since May 1, 2017.
