This course will help attendees understand codes and standards that affect the design of the building envelope and explore design solutions that offer the best energy efficiency, thermal value, fire performance and moisture control. The presentation will define “continuous insulation” and explain how its use affects energy code compliance. It will also discuss the environmental features and benefits of using polyiso insulation.
Learning Objectives:- Understand the advancement of national model energy codes as they relate to the energy efficiency of the building envelope.
- Define and understand “Continuous Insulation” and how its use effects energy code compliance, the current ASHRAE 90.1 Standard, LEED and the international Energy Conservation Code.
- Understand the NFPA 285 fire test and its role in code compliant wall assemblies.
- Discuss the environmental features and benefits of polyiso insulation including thermal performance, long service life, recycled content, negligible GWP and zero ODP.
