OSHA Announces Public Meetings of NACOSH and Its Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Workgroup
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) announced virtual public meetings of the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) and the NACOSH Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group on June 30, 2022.
NACOSH is a 12-member advisory committee that advises both the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of Health and Human Services on matters relating to the administration of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group was established to help NACOSH respond to OSHA’s request to provide recommendations on the agency’s heat injury and illness prevention guidance and rulemaking activities. This includes OSHA’s October 27, 2021 advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) regarding the extent and nature of hazardous heat in the indoor and outdoor workplaces (including those related to construction) and the nature and effectiveness of interventions and controls used to prevent heat-related injury and illness. As you will recall, SWACCA submitted joint comments with the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry on this ANPRM on January 27, 2022.
