Toledo and Monroe metro areas tied for the fifth-fastest growing construction job markets in the country, according to data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Forty-two states added construction jobs between June 2018 and June 2019, while construction employment increased in 30 states from May to June, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of Labor Department data. 

Construction employment grew in 249 out of 358 metro areas between May 2018 and May 2019, declined in 57 and was unchanged in 52, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. 

Thirty-nine states and the District of Columbia added construction jobs between May 2018 and May 2019, while construction employment increased in 31 states and D.C. from April to May.

Thirty-eight states added construction jobs between March 2018 and March 2019, while construction employment increased in 29 states between February and March, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Steel producer Nucor Corp. announced it will build a $1.35 billion manufacturing mill in a rural Kentucky county, creating several hundred jobs while expanding its presence in the bluegrass state.

Workers are so scarce that, in many parts of the country, low-skill jobs are being handed out to pretty much anyone willing to take them and high-skilled workers are in even shorter supply.

Marcum LLP released its annual analysis of construction industry job trends for 2018, based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS).
