Robert J. Easter, FAIA, was honored at A’23 as the 2023 Whitney M. Young Jr. award recipient. Easter, who was welcomed with a standing ovation, thanked AIA for the award and for honoring Young’s legacy.

Evelyn M. Lee, FAIA, will serve as AIA’s president in 2025. Heather Philip-O’Neal was elected treasurer and Latoya N. Kamdang, AIA, will serve as at-large director.

McShane Construction Company and their joint venture partner, Ashlaur Construction, were selected by repeat clients Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization to build Phase IID of Westhaven Park. Located on Chicago’s Near West Side, the 12-story development will integrate 96 mixed-income apartment units with ground-floor retail space.

WIELAND, an ENR Top 400 construction management firm headquartered in Lansing, Michigan, has announced the appointment of Edward Lorenz as chief executive officer, effective June 1.

Architect Ryan McDaniel, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has been named partner of Brandon Architects, alongside the founder and president, Christopher Brandon, AIA. McDaniel is the first partner ever to be named at the award-winning Brandon Architects firm.

The integrated architecture, planning and interiors firm The Architectural Team has announced promotions for three senior team members. The newly elevated professionals are Meghann Van Dorn, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, and Kelly Margeson, BBA, who both take on the role of associate, and Nathan Thomas, AIA, CPHC, who has been named TAT’s Director of Sustainability.

The award-winning, multidisciplinary firm WXY architecture + urban design announced architect Farida Abu-Bakare’s Fellowship appointment with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. As well, arts and culture advocate Amy Hau has been promoted to managing principal and accomplished architect Robert Young has joined the firm as associate principal.
