The first part of the seminar will be presented by Michael Yantis of Stantec, an architecture and engineering firm. He will include a refresher on often used but potentially confusing acoustic terms: Transmission Loss (TL), Sound Transmissions Class (STC), Impact Insulation Class (IIC), and Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC). He will review often used wall types and their acoustic performance and correct some common misconceptions about acoustic assemblies. Recent product developments in acoustic assemblies will be examined to see if and how they might be useful to reduce cost and improve performance.
The second part will be short presentations from numerous industry experts on various products that can help improve acoustical design and construction. They will also provide display tables where they can present samples and product brochures for our attendees to review.
