Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau's Annual Convention & Trade Show (NWCB)

February 27, 2008

The Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau’s Annual Convention & Trade Show will be held April 24-26, at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. The theme of this year’s event is “Bridging the Generations.” Attendees will enjoy educational programs, informative exhibits, important industry meetings and great tours and golf while experiencing a spectacular location on the Pacific Coast.

The convention will start Thursday morning with a golf tournament at the resort’s north course. In addition to golf, groups will head out on a bicycle tour to the beach and a walking tour of the legendary Coronado Island.

The official convention agenda begins later Thursday afternoon with the opening ceremonies and the 2008 Outstanding Project of the Year Awards showcase. Keynote speaker Anna Liotta will deliver a dynamic presentation titled, “Leadership & Customer Service That Makes a Difference.”

The program has been designed to inspire and engage attendees to achieve high productivity and maximum profitability while creating more balance and ease in their lives. The trade show begins immediately following the opening session with the President’s Welcoming Party.

Friday morning begins with industry-segment meetings for the delegates while the spouses get an invigorating start for the day in a yoga class. The exhibit hall hosts a breakfast event, after which there will be a timely seminar by Liotta: “Understanding the Generations–Recruiting and Retaining Top Talent While Maximizing your ROI.” At the same time, Karim P. Allana, P.E., CEO at Allana+Buick+Bers of Palo Alto, Calif., will give a program titled “Today’s Building Envelope Design & Construction.”

In the afternoon, Bryan J. Dunn, National Insurance Broker with Brown & Brown Insurance, will speak on the latest, positive developments in contractor’s liability and umbrella insurance.

While the seminars are taking place Friday afternoon, spouses have an opportunity to go on a shopping and sightseeing tour to La Jolla, one of the most affluent communities in the country with breathtaking ocean views, multi-million dollar homes and exclusive boutiques and galleries.

Friday will wrap up a manufacturer- and dealer-sponsored party featuring fine dining, musical entertainment and dancing. The only theme of this year’s party is “Fun,” and attendees are invited to come as they are to this popular social event.

Saturday morning begins with the NWCB’s annual meeting, after which attendees will have a final opportunity to see the exhibits and to make and renew vital industry contacts. After breakfast in the exhibit hall, the attendees can choose from several more informational sessions and interior as well exterior discussion forums.

After the educational component is finished Saturday afternoon, attendees can head out on another bicycle tour to the beach or take in marvelous horticulture and architecture on the Balboa Park Photo Tour. Finally, the convention will wrap up with a reception and a closing banquet with dinner, entertainment and the anticipated presentation of the Industry Person of the Year Award.

The convention is built around an informative trade show, where all the latest products, tools, systems and services are displayed. The exhibitors and delegates get an opportunity to meet face to face during the effective exhibit hours, with no competing events on the schedule.

San Diego has family-oriented attractions, and La Costa Resort and Spa was named the Number 2 Most Family Friendly Resort in the U.S. by the Travel Channel. For more information on the convention, call NWCB at (800) 524-4215 or visit www.nwcb.org. Registration forms and on-line registration are available on the association Web site. Guest room reservations can be made by calling the resort, (800) 854-5000.
