OSHA investigating fatal jobsite accident

A Midwest Drywall employee died after falling from scaffolding at the Wichita Biomedical Campus construction site in Wichita, Kansas.
The worker, identified as David Rodriguez, 45, of Wichita, reportedly fell about 60 feet, or seven stories, while working on exterior scaffolding at the eight-story, $300 million project. Rodriguez later died from his injuries, according to Engineering News-Record.
Midwest Drywall confirmed the fatality and said the site has been secured while the incident is reviewed.
"Our deepest sympathies are with the individual's family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time," the company said in a statement.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident. The cause of the fall has not been released.
JE Dunn Construction, part of the joint venture serving as general contractor on the project, said it is cooperating with the investigation and will participate in a full review of the accident.
Work at the site was temporarily suspended following the incident.
Rodriguez, a father of three, is survived by his wife and children. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist the family with funeral expenses and other financial needs while the investigation continues.
