The Gypsum Association announces a new industry design and construction awards program, Excellence in Gypsum Board Design and Construction, that will honor project teams who incorporate innovative gypsum board applications in residential and nonresidential construction.

"Gypsum board is not just for flat surfaces anymore and it's being used by imaginative design and construction professionals to create spectacular interiors with unique features," said Jerry Walker, executive director of the GA. "The Gypsum Association wants to honor those professionals for their leadership and showcase their innovative work through the Excellence in Gypsum Board Design and Construction awards program, and we hope to have a large number of entries."

Awards include $3,000 prizes and plaques for both the residential and nonresidential winning team; honorable mentions will receive plaques. All qualified entries will be displayed on the Gypsum Associations's Web site during 2002.

Project teams include members from the following professional categories: building or general contractor, architect or designer and drywall contractor. To be eligible for consideration in the 2002 program, entry materials should be submitted to the GA by December 31, 2002. The Association is offering an early entry bonus of $250 to the first 40 qualifed entrants.

For complete program details and to print a copy of the 2002 entry form, professionals can visit the Association's Web site at www.gypsum.org.

The GA is entering its 72nd year of service as the technical, promotion and information center of the gypsum industry. The Association, representing eleven companies located throughout the United States and Canada, is located in Washington, D.C.
