General Import & Export Co., in Hanoi, carries Multiquip light- and medium-sized construction equipment, including dewatering pumps, concrete and masonry saws, Whiteman screeds, walk-behind and ride-on trowels, and Mayco concrete pumps. The dealer is expected to add STOW Construction Equipment products to its inventory in soon. General Import & Export, operated by Director Tran Ngoc Khiem, sells equipment primarily to contractors and the government.

Xiwen Shi, Multiquip's business manager for Asia, said construction professionals, business leaders and government officials have shown considerable interest in Multiquip products throughout Vietnam. Following suit, General Import & Export Co. is scheduled to open another Multiquip dealership in Ho Chi Minh City, about 700 miles south of Hanoi, in the coming months.

The creation of the Hanoi dealer continues the company's rapid global growth. Since the early 1990s, Multiquip has expanded into Europe, Canada, Mexico, South America and Asia, and now sells product in more than 50 countries. In addition to the company's headquarters in Carson, Calif., offices are now located in Manchester, England; Quebec, Canada; Guadalajara, Mexico, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Mambai, India.
