H-Stud Area Separation Wall System
September 12, 2011
The H-Stud Area Separation Wall System is a lightweight, easily erected drywall assembly designed to be a vertical fire barrier between adjacent wood frame dwelling units such as apartments, condominiums, townhomes, etc. Phillips Hemmed H-Stud is a key framing component of the system and is hemmed for a clean, safe edge that protects board paper during installation. Phillips Hemmed H-Studs are attached on each side to adjacent framing with Phillips breakaway, aluminum alloy ASW Clips which soften and melt at approximately 1000ºF. When Phillips ASW Clips melt it allows for the falling away of construction on the fire-exposed side without collapse of the entire wall.
