The Gypsum Association announced it became the fourth Founding Member of the University of Maryland's FIRE Center. The center is a membership-based foundation established to provide financial support for the education of graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in Maryland's Fire Protection Engineering program of the A. James Clark School of Engineering. The GA's contribution will sponsor the fellowship granted to Ph.D. candidate Tingguang Ma.

"The Gypsum Association is proud to support the important research being conducted by the students in Maryland's Fire Protection Engineering program," said Michael Gardner, executive director of the Gypsum Association. "The GA has a long history of advancing the design and use of fire-resistive construction, and this is yet another way that we can help improve life safety in the built environment."

Assistant Executive Director of the GA Robert Wessel will serve on the FIRE Center's Board of Visitors.
