David Jacoby recently joined national engineering firm Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. as principal and leader of its Fire Engineering Practice. In his role at SGH, Jacoby will broaden and strengthen SGH’s fire engineering capabilities to include services ranging from code compliance to performance- based assessment. The practice area will complement other SGH services such as structural and building envelope design, historic preservation investigation services, and advanced structural analysis.

Jacoby has more than 15 years experience in fire protection engineering and is a licensed professional engineer. He previously worked in the New York office of an international multi-disciplinary firm as an associate principal and leader of that offices’ fire team. He is a member of Society of Fire Protection Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Salamander Honorary Society.

“SGH has significant experience providing engineering for extreme environments, like seismic and blast loads,” CEO Glenn Bell said. “Enhancing our fire engineering capabilities is a key component to offering a full suite of these services for our clients.”
