Textured Surface Sharp Paint Lines Solution

FrogTape

September 29, 2014

Look on Pinterest, Houzz or virtually in any shelter publication, and one thing is the same across all channels – decorative painting is everywhere. DIYers and paint contractors alike are opting for trendy motifs on walls like chevron and geometric designs, or going more subtle with a solid accent wall to add a splash of color to a room. However, trying to achieve these unique techniques was not an option if you had walls with textured surfaces… until now. FrogTape brand painter’s tape has introduced the first-of-its kind FrogTape Textured Surface, which enables homeowners and professionals to obtain sharp paint lines on surfaces that vary in depth, including orange peel and knockdown interior wall surfaces, which are dominant in the West and Southwest regions.

Like the two other FrogTape grades, Multi-Surface and Delicate Surface, FrogTape Textured Surface tape is treated with PaintBlock Technology. PaintBlock is a super absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, which helps prevent paint bleed. The kit also includes a patent pending Liquid PaintBlock Edge Sealer™ solution, which enhances the benefits of PaintBlock for surfaces with lots of peaks and valleys.

How does it work? FrogTape Textured Surface utilizes a two-step process. First, users apply the Textured Surface tape like traditional painting tape then rub a damp cloth along the edges to activate the PaintBlock Technology. Next, apply the Liquid PaintBlock Edge Sealer with the brush applicator in a circular or back and forth motion and let dry for 15 minutes prior to painting. Remove the tape after the last coat of paint is dry to the touch.  This two-step process is fast, easy and delivers professional results and sharp lines within minutes.

“As decorative painting is one of the most prevalent DIY projects, we wanted to broaden the spectrum for FrogTape with an innovation for Textured Surfaces that would meet many of our users’ needs,” said Scott Sommers, director of marketing - DIY tapes, ShurTech Brands, LLC. “Prior to FrogTape Textured Surface, many homeowners and contractors did not foresee sharp paint lines being feasible on coarse surfaces. With FrogTape Textured Surface, the sharpest lines are now possible – and made easy, saving time and money. As the brand’s first sharp line solution for textured surfaces, we’re thrilled to introduce this product to the market.”

Sommers continued, “Our research showed that homeowners were often frustrated and began to lower their expectations for sharp paint lines on textured surfaces as they continued to have paint bleed while completing projects,“ added Sommers. “With FrogTape Textured Surface, the possibilities are endless – with simple accent walls and on-trend designs like stripes – now a viable option for any homeowner, no matter the wall surface.”

FrogTape Textured Surface joins the already popular family of FrogTape products, including FrogTape Multi-Surface, FrogTape Delicate Surface and FrogTape Shape Tape. One of the key benefits of FrogTape is that the grades are clearly differentiated by the color. Green is for multi-surfaces, yellow is for delicate surfaces and now orange is for textured surfaces. FrogTape Textured Surface is available at participating Walmart and Sherwin Williams locations across the United States and Amazon.com, HomeDepot.com and Lowes.com with a suggested retail price of $14.99.
