GCP Applied Technologies, a leading global provider of construction products technologies, added two new products to its air barrier portfolio: PERM-A-BARRIER VPL 50RS and PERM-A-BARRIER VPS 30 membranes.

The new air barriers are specifically designed to provide superior protection against the damaging effects of air and liquid water ingress on building structures. Their performance reduces associated energy loss and condensation problems through the building envelope.

The PERM-A-BARRIER VPL 50RS membrane is a fluid applied, single component, one coat application STPE vapor permeable air and water barrier. One of the most sprayable liquid STPE applied air barriers on the market, PERM-A-BARRIER VPL 50RS membrane can be applied by rolling or by spray application. It is also rain resistant and can be installed in the most uncertain weather conditions, including temperatures down to 25° F. When applied to approved construction surfaces, this air barrier cures and forms a resilient, monolithic, fully bonded elastomeric sheet to create a continuous barrier.

The PERM-A-BARRIER VPS 30 air barrier is a primerless, vapor permeable air and water barrier consisting of a proprietary breathable carrier film with a specially designed adhesive. This unique membrane reduces installation time up to 35% compared to membranes requiring primer. Its advanced permeable adhesive technology creates an aggressive tight bond to the substrate, providing an effective barrier against the elements. PERM-A-BARRIER VPS 30 also has a durable weather resistant film and superior adhesion when applied in cold temperatures.

The PERM-A-BARRIER VPS 30 membrane is ideal for wall assemblies that require a breathable air barrier. It permits the diffusion of water vapor that might otherwise condense in the wall structure. The membrane is impermeable to water, enabling it to also act as a water drainage plain.

The addition of PERM-A-BARRIER VPL 50R and PERM-A-BARRIER VPS 30 membranes further strengthens GCP’s PERM-A-BARRIER air barrier portfolio. As with all GCP’s air barrier products, they are tested to the most stringent industry standards. GCP goes beyond providing just products; it brings technology, service, and expertise together to help customers grow their business.
