The nine-story Brashear Tower is a senior living apartment complex in Livonia, MI. When the new owners took over, they inherited the building envelope failures and asbestos. They decided on a much-needed exterior restoration.
Using NewBrick and Dryvit products, the first floor of the building was clad in NewBrick and the upper eight stories used Outsulation Plus MD System. NewBrick eliminates the need for miscellaneous steel due to the light weight of the insulated masonry veneer. Outsulation Plus MD system incorporates a liquid-applied, air- and water-resistive barrier and the insulation is applied with vertical adhesive beads to facilitate moisture drainage.
