Government Funds Given to Contractors Accused of Worker Exploitation
A new report shows Minnesota affordable housing developers used public funds to pay subcontractors with worker exploitation records
Contractors with records or accusations of worker exploitation have received more than $84 million in Minnesota state and municipal funds, according to Isabela Escalona of Workday Magazine.
The information comes from a report titled “Subsidizing Abuse: How Public Financing Fuels Exploitation in Affordable Housing Construction,” which was written by Jake Schwitzer of North Star Policy Action and Lucas Franco of Laborers’ International Union of North America.
