Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics announced that both of its Glass Mat manufacturing plants have been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification by the International Organization for Standardization.
The plants located in Charleston, S.C., and Russellville, Ala., manufacture glass mat products made of non-woven wet-formed fiberglass sheets bonded together with a binder system for a wide variety of building materials industries.
“Saint-Gobain always strives for world class quality processes and this certification validates our commitment,” said Mike Heburn, director of operations for Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics. “In addition, we are pursuing the ISO 14001:2004 certification at all of our North American manufacturing facilities as a commitment to understand and control our environmental impact.”
In order to receive the certification the Charleston & Russellville plants had to undergo rigorous inspections to demonstrate their comprehensive quality management system. This system includes processes for customer service, recordkeeping, adherence to customer requirements and continuous product improvement. The certification was conducted by QMI – SAI Global, North America's leading management systems registrar.
