BaySystems has added a San Francisco spray polyurethane foam applicator to its select list of energywise Preferred Contractors. SDI Insulation Inc. located in Burlingame, Calif., met the standards required to be a Preferred Contractor for the manufacturer’s Energy Cost Savings Guarantee program. Requirements include a commitment to the building science behind the program, an established business practice and recognized community involvement.

The Energy Cost Savings Guarantee is a systems approach to residential energy efficiency which combines an appropriately designed HVAC system with spray foam insulation installed by an energywise Preferred Contractor. The guarantee is backed by Bayer MaterialScience to provide homeowners a substantial reduction in energy usage.

Of the 40,000 plus homes designed and built using the guarantee, annual heating and cooling cost savings are commonly more than 50% versus conventional construction.

“We are aggressively pursuing our mission to bring practical energy-efficiency solutions to homeowners, and having SDI as a Preferred Contractor in a critical market like San Francisco is a win all the way around,” said Renee Zierden, general manager, BaySystems. “We know California residents already embrace sustainability, so we are confident the energywise Energy Cost Savings Guarantee will be an attractive option for conscientious homeowners. SDI is also anxious to educate area builders, architects and developers about the many benefits of spray polyurethane foam insulation, making this is an excellent opportunity to positively impact the full life-cycle of residential construction.”

SDI recently installed SPF insulation on the Modern by Design Showhome in Pacific Heights. The historic home was restored and renovated in conjunction with Build It Green under their GreenPoint Rated Existing Home criteria.
