Makita has expanded its range of tools powered by two 18V batteries with the new 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless 14" Cut-Off Saw (XWL01). The XWL01 is the world’s first cordless cut-off saw, and is engineered for cutting light gauge metals including pipe, all thread, conduit, tubing, rebar, light gauge metal stud and Uni-strut.

Maximum Cordless Performance

Powered by two 18V LXT batteries, the XWL01 delivers maximum cordless performance with 3,800 RPM and cutting capacity of 5” (round) and 4” x 7-5/8” (rectangular tubing). In run-time testing the XWL01 delivered up to 104 cuts in 20 gauge metal stud (1-1/4” x 3-5/8”) using two 18V 5.0Ah batteries. Ideal for mechanical and plumbing contractors, electricians, sprinkler fitters, metal fabricators, and concrete contractors, the cut-off saw allows users to eliminate the hassles and trip-hazards of power cords on the job site.

World’s Largest 18V Cordless Tool System

The new XWL01 is part of Makita’s expanding LXT system, and with over 200 solutions LXT is the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

More Features for Efficient Cutting

The XWL01 features “tool-less” flange removal for quick wheel changes, and a large spark guard engineered to capture and deflect debris away from the surrounding area. Makita’s Brushless BL Motor eliminates carbon brushes so it runs cooler and more efficiently for longer life. Additional features include soft start, electric brake, a large ergonomic handle and two-stage lock-off power button.

Protection for a Contractor’s Cordless Investment

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

New Blade Engineered for More Cuts Per Charge

Both the kit and tool-only configurations include a 14” x 1” x 3/32” Abrasive Cut-Off Wheel (model B-64705) that features a special bond and reduced thickness. When compared to the standard Makita 1/8” thick wheel, the new B-64705 wheel makes up to 30 percent more cuts per charge, up to 40 percent faster cuts and up to 250 percent longer performance life. The new B-64705 wheel is designed for use with the new XWL01 or with corded cut-off saws.
