All Weather Insulated Panels has introduced two new mineral wool panels to its existing category of fire-rated insulated metal panels. The pair of new mineral wool panels — HE42-MW and PL42-MW — are both non-combustible and provide hourly ratings.

Both mineral wool products feature a 42-inch width, are made from natural and recycled materials and are available in one-, two- and three-hour fire-rated wall assemblies. The 42-inch-wide modules enable efficient installation, while their exterior metal surfaces are embossed 26-gauge G90/AZ50 steel with standard PVDF and SMP exterior coatings.

Each panel passed the ASTM E119 and CAN/ULC S101 standard method for fire resistance of building materials. When exposed to the ASTM E84 test — surface-burning characteristics of building materials — it resulted in a flame spread of zero and a smoke developed rating of zero.

AWIP’s new fire-rated insulated panels feature thermal values as tested per ASTM C518, with R-values ranging from 16-32. Additionally, both the HE42-MW and PL42-MW panels arrive on-site in one piece and require a simple one-step installation to reduce construction time and costs. The standard interior metal surface is embossed 26-gauge Imperial White.

“Fire-resistant panels play a critical role in keeping commercial buildings safe,” said AWIP technical director Brian Ng. “All Weather Insulated Panels’ new mineral wool panels provide effective and reliable fire protection along with efficient installation capabilities to keep projects on schedule.”
