The Insulation Contractors Association of America is gearing up for its annual convention and trade show this October in Orlando, Fla., and organizers promise one of the most robust events yet for insulation professionals. In a recent conversation with Roofing Contractor and Walls & Ceilings Group Publisher Jill Bloom, ICAA Executive Director Michael Kwart detailed what attendees can expect from the four-day program.

The event officially opens on October 8, with a reception and optional golf outing, but the centerpiece of the convention kicks off the next day, with a one-day trade show. “We’ve learned over the years that concentrating our exhibits into one full day really works for both suppliers and contractors,” said Kwart. The show floor will feature 123 booths with manufacturers, distributors, and service providers offering the latest products and solutions for insulation contractors.

Beyond the exhibits, education is front and center. Friday morning begins with a deep dive into retrofitting attics with spray foam, covering everything from estimating to safety to overcoming common challenges in the field. “For anyone doing retrofit work, this will be an eye-opener,” Kwart said. Another highlight will feature longtime industry professional and former Maryland labor commissioner Matt Helminiak, who will share insights from decades in insulation contracting and discuss keys to business success.

ICAA is also responding directly to contractor concerns. After surveying members, theft prevention emerged as a pressing issue, and a dedicated session will explore the scope of the problem and strategies for protecting business assets. Legal guidance is another new offering: Texas-based construction attorney Carolyn Cromines will present on contract clauses every contractor should know and will host free one-on-one consultations after her session.

Networking remains a cornerstone of the event, with ample opportunities for contractors to connect, share best practices, and strengthen relationships. “It’s really about bringing everyone together—suppliers, contractors, and partners in one place,” Kwart emphasized.
