All matter breaks down over time. The structures that surround us today are no exception to that law of physics. Some building materials are more durable than others, like stone and steel, but unfortunately the days of structures surviving thousands of years, like the Egyptian pyramids and Roman cathedrals, is over.
The recently completed Burns & McDonnell World Headquarters at 9450 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo., has been named Project of the Year in the Mid-America Region by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The 310,000 square-foot, 4-story building also received top honors in the Commercial Buildings category in the annual DBIA competition.
Historic LondonHouse in downtown Chicago underwent an extensive renovation, starting in 2013. The transformation of this luxury hotel, completed for a grand reopening in May 2016, included insulated metal panels from Metl-Span.
