PPG announced the completion of a Colorful Communities project in East Point, Georgia, that provided a colorful makeover for Tri-Cities High School as part of the company’s New Paint for a New Start initiative. More than 70 volunteers joined representatives from educational nonprofit Heart of America to paint a fresh coat of color throughout the school’s classrooms and hallways.

Walls & Ceilings is now kicking off its annual competition to look for the W&C Contractor of 2022. This award will aim to honor North America’s best wall and ceiling contractor, with criteria including industry practices, working environment and customer service.

On June 16, Gilbane Building Company joined representatives from California Institute of the Arts and HGA Architects to celebrate the beginning of construction at CalArts' A-Block. The 25,000-square-foot renovation will restore a major section of the institution, housing its well-known School of Film/Video.

Fort Worth, Texas, recently was named the second fastest-growing city in the United States by the U.S. Census Bureau, and this growth is quickly spreading into surrounding suburbs. The 27,000-student Northwest Independent School District offers one example. A December 2021 report noted more than 4,300 new home starts within the district’s borders in just the previous year, with 2,200 new students enrolling during the same period.

This year’s ESA recipients recognized for safety achievement are Raymond-Northern California, Inc., Anning-Johnson Company, and California Drywall Co.

The Florida Wall & Ceiling Contractors Association (FWCCA) hosted its 40th annual tradeshow July 6-9 in Orlando, Fla., including several days full of educational programming, golf tournaments, an exhibit hall and product demonstrations.
