The Portland Cement Association, which represents the majority of America’s cement manufacturers, is pleased to announce the release of the second edition of Design Manual for RCC Spillways and Overtopping Protection.
The eighth annual ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards showcased dozens of innovative concrete projects from around the world. The “Overall Excellence” award was presented to Chau Chak Wing Museum, located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
While exhibiting and participating in PROCEMCO in Cartagena, Colombia, the American Concrete Institute and the Global Cement and Concrete Association were able to formalize their cooperative efforts by signing an International Partnership Agreement. This new agreement formalizes the desire to collaboratively develop and disseminate information on concrete, concrete structures and especially on concrete sustainability.

On Sept. 20, the Portland Cement Association, which represents the majority of U.S. cement production, held a New York Climate Week seminar and panel discussion in conjunction with the Global Cement and Concrete Association, with Selwin Hart, Special Advisor to the U.N. Secretary General for Climate Action and Just Transition, as keynote speaker. The event marked the one-year anniversaries of both PCA’s and GCCA’s roadmaps to carbon neutrality by 2050.
For the first time in two years, the ACI Foundation’s Concrete Innovation Council successfully hosted an in-person Technology Forum. The sold-out event took place Aug. 30 - Sept. 1 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
The ACI Foundation’s Concrete Research Council seeks to advance the concrete industry through the funding of concrete research projects that further the knowledge and sustainability of concrete materials, construction and structures. The annual request for proposals is open now through Dec. 1, 2022.
