On Feb. 4 and 5, 2003, at the World of Concrete Trade Show, in Las Vegas, the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association hosted an international competition of 85 apprentice plasterers and cement masons from all across the United States and Canada. The 33 plasterer apprentice projects consisted of various plaster systems including EIFS, basecoat veneer, an ornamental plaster crown mold and USG’s Decorative Interior Finish System. The apprentices were judged on overall quality of their work, accuracy of the finished project to prints, productivity, proper technique and use of tools, safety and neatness.
The winner of this year’s contest was Ryan Kallimani from Local 692 in Indiana.
