ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The Board of Governors of the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) awarded Kenneth D. Mentzer the Stanley Matthews Memorial Award in recognition of individual contribution to promoting the benefits of insulation through energy conservation, energy efficiency and environmental preservation in the national interest. The award marks Mentzer’s retirement as President and CEO, Treasurer of NAIMA after 30 years of service to the fiber glass, rock wool and slag wool insulation industry.

Mike Lawrence of Johns Manville, current Chairman of the NAIMA Board of Governors, said Mentzer’s leadership and professionalism over the last 30 years has been critical to the success and growth of the entire fiber glass and rock and slag wool industries in North America and around the world.

“Working with Ken has been not only a pleasure, but has helped me and many other people to learn and grow their own careers and capabilities,” he said. “Ken has a unique way to influence people and policy that drives success for NAIMA, but also for other parties, leading to win-win scenarios. It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with Ken over these last few years and get to know him professionally and personally. I wish him continued happiness and success in this next stage of his life.”

Mentzer is an active member of business, professional, energy and environmental organizations and has had a distinguished career in Washington, D.C. His many contributions and displays of leadership include: Trustee of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. Foundation; the Boards of the National Association of State Energy Officials and the National Association of Manufacturers Council of Manufacturing Associations; Trustee of the National Association of Home Builders National Council of the Housing Industry and Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee; and President of the National Home Performance Council. He is a member of the Energy Efficiency Leadership Group, The Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate and represents industry at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development Committee on Sustainable Development.
