DuPont Building Innovations has announced that the Air Barrier Association of America evaluations of wall air barrier assemblies using Tyvek CommercialWrap, Tyvek® CommercialWrap D, Tyvek Fluid Applied WB and DuPont weatherization components have been successfully completed.  The evaluations confirm that these assemblies have air leakage rates significantly below the maximum allowable when tested in accordance with ASTM E2357, exceeding ABAA assembly air leakage requirements. ASTM E2357 is the standard test method for determining the air leakage of air barrier assemblies.

The company claims that it is the only manufacturer to offer both mechanically fastened wrap and fluid applied products that have been confirmed to meet ABAA requirements for commercial air barrier assemblies.

“To have the ABAA confirmation for our DuPont Tyvek Commercial Wrap, Tyvek CommercialWrap D and Tyvek Fluid Applied WB is a milestone for our business, and we’re proud that this independent evaluation confirmed the performance of our systems,” said Lisa Santerian, commercial building envelope marketing manager for DuPont Building Innovations. “More important, this independent evaluation provides commercial construction professionals, building envelope consultants and architects assurance that these products meet the most demanding air barrier performance requirements.

“As building and energy code air leakage requirements become more and more stringent, driven by the need for more energy-efficient commercial structures, ABAA evaluation has become the standard of excellence in the air barrier industry,” she added.
