CertainTeed is expanding production of Metal Building Insulation to its Kansas City plant, enabling shorter lead times by reducing transport to customers in the central regions of the U.S. The company’s investment in new manufacturing equipment has enabled the plant to produce a high-quality product that is easier to store, transport and install.

Metal Building Insulation is composed of inorganic glass fibers bonded with a thermoset resin to form a uniformly textured blanket insulation. The flexible blankets are furnished in rolls and intended to be laminated on one side with a vapor retarder. Metal Building Insulation is available in R values ranging from R-10 to R-30 and is used as a thermal and acoustical insulation in the roofs and sidewalls of pre-engineered metal buildings and post frame construction.

“As part of the process, we recently invited customers to the Kansas City plant to introduce them to the product and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The CertainTeed Metal Building Insulation received rave reviews for its recovery, tensile strength, ease of handling and quality packaging,” said Ken Forsythe, senior product manager for CertainTeed Insulation. “The investment in the Kansas City plant ensures that high-quality product is available for faster distribution to a larger portion of the U.S.”

A part of the community since 1951, the CertainTeed plant in Kansas City manufactures a broad array of insulation products, including fiberglass batts, rolls and premium loose-fill insulation that help make homes and buildings more sustainable and energy efficient. In 2008, the plant was inducted into the Millionaires Club—a top honor from parent company Saint-Gobain—for its strong safety record. The plant is also an active participant in the Saint-Gobain International Environment, Health and Safety Day, an annual event dedicated to environmental awareness, emergency preparedness, healthy living and workplace safety.
