American Concrete Institute Unveils New Logo and Tagline

January 21, 2014

The American Concrete Institute (ACI), an organization whose mission it is to develop and disseminate consensus-based knowledge on concrete and its uses, plans to unveil a new logo and tagline during two public events at World of Concrete on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

EVENT 1: PERVIOUS CONCRETE SLAB UNVEILING

WHEN: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014

WHERE: World of Concrete | Near Paradise Rd. entrance in the Gold Lot (at intersection of Convention Center Dr. and Paradise Rd.) | Las Vegas Convention Center | Las Vegas, NV, USA

WHAT: Concrete contractors and artists will unveil a newly placed 15-foot replica of ACI’s logo in a pervious concrete slab.  Using color-matched glass aggregate and supplemental cementitious materials fly ash and silica fume, the pervious concrete slab will feature a larger-than-life representation of the new, modern, vibrant, and professional logo and “Always advancing” tagline for the 110-year-old American Concrete Institute.  ACI President Anne M. Ellis and project team members will be on hand to talk about the logo development and design/construction of the slab.

Pervious concrete is defined as concrete containing little, if any, fine aggregate that results in sufficient voids to allow air and water to pass easily from the surface to underlying layers.  Pervious concrete is widely recognized as a sustainable building material, as it reduces storm water runoff, improves storm water quality, recharges groundwater supplies, and can reduce the impact of the urban heat island effect.

WHO: Members of the media and registered World of Concrete attendees are invited to attend.  Project participants include David Mitchell of Bunyan Industries; John Bazella, Cas Bazella, and Justin Bazella of J. Bazella Concrete Construction; Jim Miller of C2 Products; Lonnie Gray of Oldcastle Materials; Stan Nielsen of Heritage Glass; Robert Estrada of Artscape Surfaces; and the team at Hanley Wood, World of Concrete, and Concrete Construction magazine.

EVENT 2: LOGO LAUNCH RECEPTION AND PRESENTATION

WHO: Tuesday, January 21, 2014 – Reception from 3:00-5:00 p.m.; Presentation by ACI President Anne M. Ellis at 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: World of Concrete | South Hall Booth 10339 | Las Vegas Convention Center | Las Vegas, NV, USA

WHAT: ACI officially launches its new logo and tagline “Always advancing” at World of Concrete.  Join Institute leadership, members, supporters, and staff in celebrating this milestone.  ACI President Anne M. Ellis will talk about the vision of the new identity and its impact ACI’s advancement and global reach.  Celebratory gifts will be provided to the first 100 guests.  Complimentary desserts will be available.

WHO: Members of the media and all registered World of Concrete attendees are invited to attend.

KEYWORDS: ACI (American Concrete Institute) concrete World of Concrete
