USG Launches Drywall Finishers with Building Greatness Program

July 22, 2014

USG Corp. introduces the Building Greatness program, a contest that celebrates the craftsmanship of drywall finishers, with the goal of capturing imagery that will help express and celebrate the essential nature of a finisher’s craft.

“We want to show drywall finishers that USG values their hard work,” said Kevin Moyer, director, Product Marketing Performance Surfaces at USG Corp. “The skill and craftsmanship that goes into this profession is too often overlooked.”

From July 21, 2014 through March 1, 2015, USG is asking drywall finishers to submit a photo of the job for which they’re most proud. The grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to support Team USA at the Pan American Games in Toronto, July 2015. Four remaining finalists will receive a prize with a value up to $100 each. Drywall finishers may submit one entry per month during the contest period. The first entry will be rewarded with a commemorative T-shirt.

Submitted photos and details about the project will be posted at www.usg.com/BuildingGreatness during the duration of the contest to help promote each contestant and his or her business. The bilingual Web site will also feature installation tips and videos. In addition, the submissions will live on the Finisher’s Hall of Fame page, a custom tab hosted on USG Sheetrock’s Facebook page, providing an opportunity for entrants to share their work with friends and family through social media.

There are four phases to the contest, which are as follows:

  • Phase One: Contestants submit entries from July 21, 2014 through March 1, 2015.
  • Phase Two: Five finalists will be selected by a panel of USG employees based on what they believe to be the top five most innovative projects.
  • Phase Three: Finalists will be posted to USG.com/Building Greatness where users can vote for their favorite entry. Each user may vote once.
  • Phase Four: The finalist with the most votes will be announced as the grand prize winner on or about April 15, 2015.

All professional finishers are qualified to enter the contest. Contestants can register at www.usg.com/BuildingGreatness or by mailing entries to: United States Gypsum Company, 550 West Adams, Chicago, IL 60661, Attention: Marketing Department 16th Floor, Building Greatness.
