ClarkDietrich Building Systems to Introduce New Steel Framing Products

November 20, 2015

ClarkDietrich Building Systems, the largest manufacturer of cold-formed steel framing in North America, will exhibit its latest BIM tools and services at Autodesk University 2015 as part of the GTP Services booth (#1111). As the premier learning destination for Autodesk customers worldwide, attendees will learn first-hand from experts and industry thought leaders in the fields of automated design and construction software.

The GTP Services booth will include multiple trade manufacturers all showcasing how Autodesk’s software can help transition the BIM model into the field.

“We’re extremely excited to be part of AU 2015, and to be an asset for architects, designers and contractors looking to learn about the latest innovations in cold-formed steel framing, and how to take BIM technology from the office to the field,” said Mike Murzyn, ClarkDietrich Building Systems technical product and marketing manager.

As part of the exhibit, ClarkDietrich will demonstrate how the company’s engineering and BIM services integrate with GTP Services and Autodesk Point Layout, giving contractors the ability to take BIM model points out to the field with robotic total stations. This technology, combined with the company’s coordination and engineering design services, results in more accurate jobsite layouts.

BIM coordination includes assisting with clash avoidance, collaborating with other trades, creating 3-D visuals for cold-formed steel framing, providing detailed documentation and shop drawings that include plan views, wall sections, panel drawings and other customized BIM services.

Contractors can take a look at ClarkDietrich’s custom BIM Framing Tools built into StrucSoft Solutions Metal Wood Framer Pro Wall packages. MWF is a template-based and rule-driven extension to Autodesk Revit for framing that empowers users to automate the modeling, clash detection and manufacturing of cold-formed steel BIM models.

For architects looking for the latest design tools for interior wall design, ClarkDietrich will have an interactive module to highlight its Wall Type Creator - Revit add-in tool. Wall Type Creator is the first Revit add-in to intelligently incorporate detailed information on cold-formed steel wall elements and design properties, allowing architects to develop information-rich wall types, with specific details on UL test, STC ratings and limiting heights. Now available in Autodesk’s Revit Exchange Store.

In addition to the company’s wide ranging technology platforms, ClarkDietrich Building Systems will also showcase its steel framing products. Products on display include:

•     TRAKLOC Telescopic Length Adjustable Drywall Framing System

•     BlazeFrame Fire Stop Deflection Track System

•     RedHeader RO Rough Opening System

Ultimately, Murzyn believes the company’s presence at this year's event solidifies ClarkDietrich as the leading innovator in the steel framing industry.

"AU 2015 is where the thought leaders on building information modeling will be, and as ClarkDietrich has become a growing resource for product and marketplace perspectives for all aspects of cold-formed steel framing, we look forward to sharing what we learned and bringing new technologies to the table that will push the industry forward.”
