The Drywall Artist of the Year contest highlights exceptional drywall artists and increases recognition of the trade. The annual contest challenges participants to enter their most creative drywall masterpieces. Any drywall projects using Trim-Tex bead are eligible for submission. 

“We are entering our 11th year of the Drywall Artist of the Year contest, and have seen just how much the community supports it,” said Joe Koenig, president of Trim-Tex. “The entries push the boundaries of creativity in the drywall industry. Selecting a winner is always a huge challenge.”

Since Trim-Tex launched the contest in 2006, recognition of the talent within the drywall industry has continued to grow. In pursuit of magnifying that recognition and growing the industry, Trim-Tex is pleased to welcome All-Wall Drywall Superstore, Archways & Ceilings, and Drywall Nation as sponsors of the contest.

Over the past 10 years, the contest has featured a variety of drywall skills and approaches. The most recent winner, Sheldon Hawks, showcased his artful use of Trim-Tex bead and his work amplifying the personal style of homeowners through his projects.

Trim-Tex receives numerous project submissions each year from across the world. Nine past winners are from the United States, while the 2014 winner is Canadian.

Trim-Tex reviews all submissions and selects the winner based on overall skills, creativity and design. As this year’s prize, the winner will receive $4,000 in prizes, which includes $2,000 in product credits, an Automatic Taping Bazooka ($1,500 value) and a two-night hotel stay with round-trip airfare to Chicago for the Drywall Artist Award Ceremony.

The 2016 winner will be announced on the Trim-Tex website and social media. In addition, the work of past winners can be viewed on the Trim-Tex website.
