STANLEY has announced its second round winner and opened third and final round call for nominations of its Build Your America 2016 contest, where participants nominate and vote for a U.S. public charity or private foundation to receive $10,000, and an assortment of Stanley Black & Decker products valued at $1,000 for use in completing a community project. This is the third year in a row that Stanley has sponsored a contest to give back to the community.

Beginning today and open until Nov. 22 at 4:59 p.m. (EST), people are asked to describe in 500 characters or less how a charitable organization or private foundation they nominate would benefit the community with the STANLEY Build Your America prize. Participants and nominees are encouraged to share their stories to drive votes for their projects by visiting the Stanley Tools Build Your America webpage or Facebook.

Second Round Winner KultureCity
KultureCity, an organization whose mission to inspire the community and create a world where all autistic individuals are accepted, included and can reach their potential, has been selected as the second round winner of the STANLEY Build Your America 2016. To date, KultureCity has helped more than 25,000 children. While there are many other autism charities focused on finding cures for autism, none nationally are solely focused on helping autistic individuals realize their potential by providing tangible help and resources for businesses and the community.

Julian Maha,M.D, founder/CEO of KultureCity, accepted the award on behalf of the organization and shared a message that reinforced how this award will support the organization’s mission. “KultureCity is proud to partner with Stanley Tools on its Build Your America initiative. Stanley Tools as an organization has always been known for its commitment to delivering amazing tools that help build a better and maintain a better world. Our partnership with Stanley Tools will allow us to continue to fulfill the needs of amazing autistic individuals and their families. We are sincerely thankful and blessed for their support.”

With the Build Your America funds and tools from Stanley Tools, KultureCity aims to create the first sensory friendly and all-inclusive playground in the Birmingham, Ala. area. This playground will include equipment designed for individuals with sensory processing disorders, which means the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information received by the senses. Since many families don’t have the means or space to put sensory friendly playgrounds in their homes, this project will bring one to the community and provide a safe and inclusive space for all.
