Superior Walls Marks 12 Percent Growth in 2017

Based on accelerated new home starts and increasing requests from builders for precast concrete foundations, Superior Walls celebrated a 12 percent business growth in 2017 over the previous year. Company leaders project that another 10 percent growth can be anticipated for 2018.

"The overall building market has been growing steadily, which falls right in line with our product," says Keith Weller, vice president and CFO for Superior Walls. "We're experiencing a growth in market share for our products thanks to expansion of operations and more aggressive use by past customers."

Weller notes that the company, which primarily serves builder needs in the East and Midwest, has seen also seen growth recently in the Carolinas.

"Superior Walls continues to target new areas for growth,” says Weller. “For 2018 we anticipate this will come from our operations in Canada and some pockets of growth in our core markets in the Northeast and Midwest."

Stronger Economy

"Right now, with the new construction market on an upward swing, there's a sense of growth and stability for our industry," says Weller. "This allows everyone to move forward and we've seen construction accelerate. Superior Walls is aligned with this growth and ready to play a major role in providing dependable precast foundation systems across our country and in Canada.

"Precast concrete panels are truly the future for efficient construction projects. The benefits of speed, energy efficiency and reliability far outweigh any price differential with other foundation options

Innovator of the precast concrete foundation system, Superior Walls celebrates 37 years of operation in 2018. The company manufactures the only foundation to have earned the NGBS Green Certified Product designation and has precast concrete system licensee manufacturing operations throughout the United States and Canada.

All Superior Walls products are pre-engineered and custom manufactured off site in indoor production facilities, eliminating any on-site soil contamination such as the form oil used for poured walls. Since Superior Walls panels are engineered and manufactured with insulated concrete studs, Superior Walls reduces the amount of materials used to build a structure, including wood and concrete, and reduces the carbon footprint of a new home or commercial facility's construction process. The panels are delivered directly to a jobsite where certified crews install the precast wall panels

Xi Panels Lead Growth

According to Weller, the company's popular Superior Walls Xi precast concrete wall panels continue to be the most popular product for foundations. “Choosing an energy-efficient precast Xi concrete foundation can help ward off heat loss and make the basement a more comfortable area for extended living and storage space," says Weller. "Builders recognize that our wall panels provide a dry and exceptionally energy-efficient foundation for a new home or commercial structure.”

Superior Walls Xi wall panels feature steel reinforced concrete and 2-1/2-inches of DOW Styrofoam insulation to create a barrier against sidewall water penetration. The panels are custom designed and constructed in a factory-controlled setting. Unique features of the Xi wall panels include:

  • 5,000+ PSI concrete
  • Steel-reinforced top bond beams, concrete studs and footer beams
  • Horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams
  • Vertical steel rebar inside each stud
  • Insulated access holes for ease in wiring and plumbing
  • Galvanized steel stud facing ready for drywall finishing
  • Insulated corners, studs and bond beams

Benefits to Homeowners

Superior Walls prefabricated foundation walls are resource efficient, using up to 70 percent less concrete in a new home than conventional foundations. Available for installation year-round, the foundation panels provide warm, dry basements for homeowners --- even in the harshest and coldest northern climates.

For homeowners, the benefits of a Superior Walls foundation system are substantial. The energy-efficient walls help lower energy costs and reduce energy leakage while providing increased living space in a comfortable setting. The precast concrete system helps improve the indoor air quality in a dry basement setting along with enhancing the resale value of a home.
