Contractors Take on the Heat with Makita 18V LXT Fan Jackets

Recessed fans powered by 18V LXT battery circulate air inside the jacket for relief in hot working conditions.

Makita has released a new solution for hot job site conditions with two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Fan Jackets, models DFJ304Z (Cotton) and DFJ405Z (Titanium-Coated Polyester/UV Resistant). Both Fan Jackets accept a Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery, which powers two recessed fans that circulate air inside the jacket.

“Makita Fan Jackets are a smart addition to a hot weather plan, whether the work is outdoors or in close quarters including attics and crawl spaces,” said Wayne Hart, Communications Manager, Makita U.S.A., Inc. “They are ideal for residential and commercial contractors, landscapers, road workers, and more.”

World’s Largest Cordless Tool System

The new Fan Jackets are part of Makita’s expanding LXT system, which offers 200+ cordless solutions in 2018 and is the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

Long Run Time with 3 Airflow Settings

Both Fan Jackets have a power source that accepts a Makita 18V LXT or 18V LXT Compact Lithium-Ion battery (sold separately). The battery slides onto the power source, which has an integrated belt clip so it's out of the way but within reach for easy access. The battery powers two recessed fan units located on the lower-left and -right sides of the jacket, and three air flow modes plus turbo mode allow users to adjust the air flow to the work conditions. The fan units provide air circulation inside the jacket for up to 15 hours on the high setting when using a 5.0Ah battery (BL1850B, sold separately).

Ice Pack Compartments and On-Board USB Port

Added features include two ice pack storage compartments on the back of the jacket for increased cooling. Each jacket has 5 pockets including 2 zippered chest pockets, side pockets (left and right) and a sleeve pocket, and the sleeves can be folded into short sleeves and fastened with a built-in loop and button. For added convenience, users can charge their portable electronic devices with the on-board USB power port.

Cotton or Titanium-Coated Polyester in a Range of Sizes

The Fan Jackets are available in two styles:

•           Model DFJ304Z features durable 100% cotton construction with knitted cuffs and waist to provide a better fit, which helps keep the air circulating inside the jacket.

•           Model DFJ405ZL features titanium-coated polyester to help protect against ultra-violet and infrared rays.

Both are available now in sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, and 3XL.
