Super Stud Building Products, Inc., the multi-regional cold-formed metal framing members and accessories manufacturer, is proud to announce that Don Allen, P.E., LEED AP, SECB, Director of Engineering, will be running a program entitled Opportunities and Pitfalls in Designing and Specifying Cold-Formed Steel, hosted by the Structural Engineers Association of Georgia. The program, scheduled for February 13, 2019 in Atlanta, GA, will focus on the engineer of record's responsibilities with respect to delegated design, and how this is addressed in the building codes and in the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Code of Standard Practice. In addition, special and problematic detailing will be covered: alignment framing, cantilevers and parapets, use of structural steel versus cold-formed steel, and non-structural considerations for these structural members: including thermal transfer, fire resistance, and situations that sometimes lead to change orders or litigation.
