California Drywall won five Construction Excellence Awards and an Excellence in Safety Award at the Wall and Ceiling Alliance (WACA) Annual Construction Excellence Award ceremony held earlier this month in San Jose, California. This exclusive competition recognizes Northern California’s top wall & ceiling projects, honoring contractors for their outstanding work, craftsmanship, and safety.

Cal Poly SLO’s new residential community totals 562,446 square feet throughout eight 4-5 story buildings and includes 696 units totaling 1,475 beds for first year students. It is richly programmed with study areas, large scale living rooms, a recreation center and more. An associated parking structure totals 154,363 square feet. California Drywall’s scopes included lath & plaster, metal stud framing & drywall, and acoustic & specialty ceilings. LEED Platinum.

An 11-story, 250-room, 171,000 square foot, full service lifestyle hotel branded for the Autograph Collection by Marriott. Hotel offerings include a restaurant, full bar and lounge, an exclusive concierge club room, fitness club, and an event garden and conference facility that offers over 20,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space including a 6,000-square-foot ballroom and executive boardroom. California Drywall’s scopes included metal stud framing & drywall, lath & plaster, acoustic & specialty ceilings, fireproofing and unistrut. LEED Silver.

A 200,000 square foot, 3-floor tenant improvement consists of largely open office workplace and includes numerous conference rooms of various sizes and a board room, training rooms, huddle rooms and phone rooms. The design also includes soft seating vignettes that afford additional meeting areas. An all hands area with interconnecting staircase, a large café, game room, and music room. California Drywall’s scope included metal stud framing & drywall.

 

The Lobby at 353 Sacramento

First impressions are important. At 353 Sacramento Street, the architect designed a thoughtful entry experience to be a welcoming transition from the sidewalk to the grand double-height 2,931 SF lobby, and from the quiet lounge into the elevator cabs. A series of intersecting and alternating metal reveals and linear light lines, inspired by the building’s existing exterior metal panels, are crafted to weave through the impressive entry experience. California Drywall’s scope included metal stud framing & drywall.

 

Excellence in Safety Award

WACA’s Excellence in Safety Award recognizes California Drywall for managing an effective safety program for a company with more than 1 million man hours. The company was selected for this award based on its best practices and the high quality of its safety program. This is the third straight year California Drywall has won this award.
