American Iron and Steel Institute Regional Director of Codes and Standards Jon-Paul Cardin, P.E., will conduct a webinar on “Cold-Formed Steel—Latest Design Provisions” on March 14 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Central Time as part of a new National Council of Structural Engineers Associations series. NCSEA’s five-part webinar series, “Examining the Codes: Learn from the Experts,” covers the latest code updates and provisions in steel, energy, masonry and wind and how to use them. It is designed for practicing structural engineers, trained designers, building department engineers, plan review agencies, professors and students.

The provisions of AISI standards for cold-formed steel members, connections and systems are commonly used in the design of CFS light-frame construction for steel deck, metal building systems, metal roof and wall systems, steel storage racks, steel joists, solar PV support structures and other construction applications. The AISI Specification (AISI S100) and suite of Framing Standards (S220, S240, S230, S310, S400) are the International Building Code-referenced standards governing the design, detailing and installation of these members and assemblies. Cardin’s presentation will cover some of the key updates to the AISI standards and introduce design guides to assist practicing engineers. The webinar will award one hour of continuing education and is Diamond Review-approved in all 50 states. More information on the webinar can be found here.
