Product Focus on Soundproofing

Sound Deadening Material

Acoustiblok

The company’s proprietary material can dramatically reduce sound transmission through walls/ceilings/floors. The unique linear attenuation created when Acoustiblok is added to gypsum assemblies provides enhanced sound isolation at the same frequency ranges gypsum inherently has deficiencies; these frequency ranges are still apparent with even 4-layers of gypsum. It also allows easy access to the wall interior for plumbing/wiring maintenance. Independent lab tests show that 1/8-inch layer of the material added to a stud wall can reduce more sound than 8-inches of poured concrete. Eco-friendly, Acoustiblok is UV resistant/impervious to water/mold & UL/ULC classified for over 400 wall/ floor/ceiling assemblies. For more information, visit acoustiblok.com.

Baffle and Banner Noise Barriers

Sound Seal

The company recently announced the addition of colorful, exterior-grade Aerial Baffles and Banners and Vivid Noise Barriers and Sound Curtains to its Architectural and Industrial Divisions, respectively. All are custom-made, lightweight, and easy to install, and a perfect solution for situations where aesthetics are equally as important as acoustics. The 12 new color offerings appeal to a wide range of customers and complement an array of settings. In outdoor spaces, like restaurants, pickleball and tennis courts, or music venues, the ambience can be heightened while noise is being controlled. Manufacturing floors can be infused with corporate colors or branding. For more information, visit soundseal.com.

Commercial and Residential Acoustics

Commercial and Residential Acoustics

Kinetics Noise Control

The company recently added Raven Board to its Room Acoustics and Home market product lines. Easily cut to size with a utility knife, Raven Board can be quickly installed in a ceiling grid or directly to the ceiling for fast and dramatic acoustic results in commercial or residential spaces. Raven Board eliminates unwanted ceiling boundary reflections and slap-echo between parallel floor and ceiling surfaces, controls excessive room reverberation, and improves signal-to-noise ratio for listening, recording, and conversation. The product is Class A Fire Rated and available in 3- and 6-pound densities and 1-2 inch thicknesses. Each board is available in a maximum size of 48 x 96 inches. For more information, visit kineticsnoise.com/ravenboard/black-ceiling-absorber.

Acoustical Beams, Planks and Panels

Acoustical Beams, Planks and Panels

Lamvin

The company’s SonicTimber line features acoustical beams, planks and panels with a warm, wood-like appearance. Their lengths, cores and finishes can be interchanged to suit décor, personal style preferences and needs of the space in which they will be installed. Designers can choose from 40 woodgrain finishes across three color collections: Timberline, Heritage and FeatherGrain. Timberline offers a very traditional wood-like appearance; Heritage has more pronounced wood veining whereas FeatherGrain, as the name implies, features fainter striations. Products in the Sonic Timber line are ASTM E84—Class 1/A fire-rated. For more information, visit lamvin.com/sonic-timber.

Variable Reverberation Time Rooms

Variable Reverberation Time Rooms

IAC Acoustics

The company offers a complete range of certified, Variable Reverberation Time Rooms for acoustic testing of electronic devices and other products. Macrodyne Hardliner VRT Rooms are comprised of prefabricated panels; the design makes for simple and cost-effective installation, and the modular system enables relocation of the room if needed. Available in an array of size configurations, all offer a sound transmission loss up to STC-64 rated, ensuring that only the noises generated inside the room are what is measured during testing.
