President Joe Biden issued a proclamation to mark “Workers Memorial Day,” which honors the memories of workers killed or injured due to unsafe working conditions.

In the proclamation, the President highlighted the “historic infrastructure, manufacturing and clean energy laws” enacted by the President. It also highlights, among other things, the Administration’s commitment to fighting wage theft and worker misclassification and increasing inspections of workplaces for extreme heat, which the proclamation emphasizes is of particular concern for construction workers. This comes as SWACCA continues to press for increased resources to address misclassification and to monitor OSHA’s Heat National Emphasis Program and a related Heat Injury and Illness Rulemaking that is under development.
