Makita U.S.A., Inc. has released the 18V LXT Compact Brushless 1/2-inch Hammer Driver-Drill Kit (5.0 Ampere-hour battery and charger included with kit). The Hammer Driver-Drill features increased power for a wide range of drilling, driving and hammer-drilling applications.

“Makita revolutionizes user experience with the new Brushless Hammer Driver Drill, offering a versatile tool with high torque and a compact size,” said Benjamin Alvarado, product manager - cordless at Makita U.S.A. Inc. “This is an ideal solution for users looking for a drill that can offer a wide range of applications.”

The new XPH14 is available in a kit with two 5.0 Ampere-hour batteries and a Rapid Charger. It is also available in a new two-piece combo kit with the 18V LXT Impact Driver, two 5.0 Ampere-hour batteries and a Rapid Charger.

Brushless Motor, Increased Power

The 1/2-inch Hammer Driver-Drill features a Makita-built brushless motor that delivers up to 970 inch-pounds of max torque for up to 70 percent more power than the XPH12. The electronically controlled brushless motor efficiently uses energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application. The variable two-speed design (0-550 and 0-1,800 RPM, 0-8,250 and 0-27,000 BPM) covers a wide range of drilling, driving and hammer-drilling applications.

Convenience Features

The XPH16 features a compact and ergonomic design at only 6 7/8 inches long and weighs only 4.9 pounds with a 5.0 Ampere-hour battery for reduced operator fatigue. The Hammer Driver-Drill features a rubberized soft grip that provides increased comfort on the job and features dual LED lights to illuminate the work area.

Star Protection

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries, with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Makita LXT System

The newly released 1/2-inch Hammer Driver-Drill is part of the LXT System, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V batteries with 325+ products in one system. The LXT System includes an expansive range of 18V and 36V mowers, trimmers, blowers, chain saws and more, as well as a comprehensive range of cordless tools, vacuums, lighting, radios, heated jackets and more – all powered by fast-charging 18V LXT batteries.
