Rockfon Mono Acoustic Stone Wool, Monolithic Ceiling Systems Absorb Sound

Rockfon presented an addition to its North American portfolio range: Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling systems. The stone wool, monolithic ceiling solutions create a smooth, seamless, uninterrupted surface with best-level sound absorption. For years, these products have inspired European architects, design professionals and their clients. Now, they are available in select regions of North America, supported by qualified, certified installers. Those areas currently include Ontario, the Northeast U.S. and Texas, with more being added.

Rockfon Mono Acoustic systems combine high-end aesthetic appeal with the high-performance benefits of stone wool, including acoustic comfort with a Noise Reduction Coefficient up to 0.95, Class A fire protection, healthy indoor air quality, high light reflectance, moisture and sag resistance, and long-lasting durability. Stone wool naturally resists moisture, mold and mildew and gives no sustenance to microorganisms. Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling panels have earned UL Environment GREENGUARD certification for low VOC emissions.

The modern, clean, visually continuous Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceilings are well-suited for flat or curved applications with direct-mount or suspended installations in either newly built or renovated commercial interiors. They also may be used for angled and arched transitions and on sloped or vertical walls.

A choice of three Rockfon Mono Acoustic tapered-edge ceiling systems is offered:

  • Rockfon Mono Acoustic TE attaches to Chicago Metallic Drywall Suspension.
  • Rockfon Mono Acoustic TE Direct adheres to existing smooth, flat surfaces.
  • Rockfon Mono Acoustic TE Flecto attaches to concave or convex surfaces.

Each of the systems is backed with a 15-year limited product warranty.

“Continuing to expand on our complete portfolio range, we’re proud to offer Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling systems,” said Tom Smith, Rockfon’s business development manager. “These elegant ceilings combine a premium, smooth, flowing appearance with unmatched acoustic performance in spaces designed for conversation, contemplation and comfort. Any interior space where drywall or acoustical plaster ceilings are considered, Mono Acoustic can provide an elegant look with improved acoustics.”

Smith suggests applications beyond the expansive, monolithic ceilings seen in spacious lobbies and central corridors. He recommends pairing the elevated aesthetic with optimized acoustics in classrooms, meeting rooms, restaurants, libraries, galleries, places of worship, hospitals, medical clinics and transportation centers.

“To bring this monolithic acoustical offering to the North American market, Rockfon is investing in educating top-level installation teams at our training facility in Antwerp, Belgium,” Smith explained. “Each team’s specialists learn from our European technicians and craftspeople who have been involved with Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling installations on world-renown architectural projects.”

Qualified, Certified Installers

Trained, Rockfon-certified installers ensure Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling solutions achieve each project’s goals for elevated aesthetics, optimized acoustics and high performance.

Currently, Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling systems are available for commercial interior ceiling designs in New York; Massachusetts; Connecticut; Rhode Island; New Jersey; eastern Pennsylvania; Delaware; Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; Alexandria, Virginia; Richmond, Virginia; Oklahoma; Texas; and southwestern Ontario, Canada. More locations will be added in the coming months.

Immediate Need, Many Opportunities

“There’s an immediate need for Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling systems in North America,” said Fadi Abouhadid, chief estimator with Pillar Construction, Inc., who has 19 years of industry experience in ceiling installations. “These ceiling systems have a very high acoustic value and provide a cost-effective alternative to acoustical plaster. With them, we can provide a continuous, upscale ceiling wherever you need to manage sound and reverberation. There’s no other product like this that matches its performance.

“We are excited to be among Rockfon’s first partners to bring this fantastic product to market,” Abouhadid continued. An early adopter, Pillar has worked with Rockfon and its products for 10 years. A full-service specialty contractor, it performs work across most of the Mid-Atlantic, the Northeast and several southern states.

“We loved the three-day training experience,” complimented Arman Karakaya, director of the plastering division at Pillar Construction, Inc., who has 20 years of industry experience in plastering. “Our instructor was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the product, and made us want to work with it, too. The combination of classroom and hands-on learning was amazing.

“I know that we can do an awesome job,” Karakaya added, sharing the knowledge with the rest of Pillar’s U.S. team. “We’re excited to get started on our first projects.”
