Knight Wall Systems general manager Brian Nelson has been elected to the Rainscreen Association in North America’s Board of Directors, according to RAiNA Executive Committee chair Todd Kimmel.

“Brian has served as a co-chair of RAiNA’s Codes Committee for more than four years while also contributing to several other standing committees as an active voting member,” Kimmel said. “Many of RAiNA’s achievements to date have been a result of Brian’s efforts and collaborative spirit, and we are fortunate to now have him on the Board of Directors to help further our growth, success and leadership within the AEC community.”

Nelson has been the industry group’s Building Codes Committee co-chair since 2021 and will retain that position while he serves on the board for the next three years.

“I’m honored to be selected to serve on the RAiNA Board,” Nelson said. “Having been involved in the group since its inception, I’ve seen how important the association has become to the building envelope industry.”

RAiNA is led by its Board of Directors, which consists of nine individuals with broad experience in the rainscreen industry. Within the board, the organization’s Executive Committee – made up of five individuals – serves to guide committees and acts as the steering committee for the RAiNA Board, kickstarting leadership’s strategic planning, leading key initiatives for the association – including the RAiNA 2030 vision – and prioritizing critical issues for the full board to address.

Launched officially in late 2020, RAiNA is a multi-disciplinary, member-led organization created to help meet today’s building design and construction challenges. It’s the first such industry group dedicated specifically to the advancement of the building envelope, and its membership roster includes numerous leaders in the architectural façade industry. Knight Wall Systems is one of RAiNA’s founding members.

Today, high-performance building envelopes are required to provide a durable, energy-efficient, safe and comfortable environment for the occupants. As manufacturers continue to innovate with material performance and building designs continue to evolve, applicable building knowledge is more important than it has ever been.

Six RAiNA committees comprising more than 200 members and individuals spent more than 10,000 person-hours in the past year to develop the technical information needed by the industry.

Over the last two decades, the building science community has pushed exterior wall assembly performance to the front of the conversation regarding overall building performance. RAiNA has attracted many of the leading voices in the building science community. This type of coordination displays one of the organization’s core goals of delivering science-based guidance to improve both commercial and residential building.

Knight Wall Systems Inc., headquartered in Deer Park, Washington, is an innovator in building envelope technology and a founding member of the Rainscreen Association in North America. A winner of BuildingGreen’s “Top 10 Green Building Products” awards and a two-time recipient of Architectural Record’s Record Products designations, Knight’s patented “drop-in” rainscreen attachment and thermal isolation technologies have set new standards for building façades throughout North America.
