In a joint effort to promote safety in the industry, Construction Safety Week and OSHA are partnering for the second year in a row. The construction industry is one of the largest employment sectors, impacting millions of people a year. In 2023, 39.2 percent of workplace deaths in the industry were due to falls, slips, and trips (BLS data). This data suggests that organizations must be committed to improving safety culture across the industry and raising awareness of serious injuries and fatalities.

Construction Safety Week, a weeklong, industry-wide initiative, emphasizes the importance of working together to build a stronger, safer industry. Happening May 5-9, 2025, this commitment to safety is explored through the lens of this year's theme, All in Together, which focuses on three key pillars: Plan, Own, Commit.  During the same week, OSHA is hosting its 12th National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction to raise fall hazard awareness across the country and stop fall fatalities and injuries.

Through this partnership, Construction Safety Week and OSHA are joining efforts to pause work on sites throughout the U.S. on May 7, creating the largest industry-wide construction stand-down. If companies cannot participate on May 7, we invite you to stand down with us any time during the week of May 5-9 and be part of this national effort to build a stronger and safer industry together.

“We are looking forward to partnering with OSHA again this year in our efforts to promote safety across the industry. The number of potentially preventable deaths in our field is staggering, and we are committed to working together to spread awareness and reduce those numbers,” said Mike Choutka, CEO Hensel Phelps and 2025 Construction Safety Week Chair. “This year, we are All in Together and dedicated to helping everyone who works in the industry to come home safely to their loved ones every day. Standing down together is one way we can join efforts and make a difference.”

Join us and thousands of your peers across the industry to demonstrate your support for preventing injuries and fatalities in construction on Wednesday, May 7. Being part of the effort to raise awareness on preventing fatal falls and serious injuries across the industry is a way that everyone in the industry can make a difference. Access and utilize OSHA's National Safety Stand-Down Resources, as well as materials found on Construction Safety Week’s planning page, to demonstrate your support. We encourage you to utilize OSHA’s Fall Protection Stand Down and Construction Safety Week’s resources anytime during the week of May 5-9 to support safety on your site.

Thank you for joining us in this partnership between OSHA and Construction Safety Week!
