ACI to Host Public Seminars on ACI CODE-318-25 and ACI CODE-562-25

The seminars will be held at strategic locations throughout the United States

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced it will conduct multiple public seminars on ACI CODE-318-25 and ACI CODE-562-25 from September to November 2025. The seminars, “ACI 318-25: Changes to the Concrete Design Standard” and “ACI 562-25: Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures—Code Requirements and Commentary,” will be held at multiple locations throughout the United States.

 

ACI 318-25: Changes to the Concrete Design Standard

This seminar will cover the significant changes in the 2025 edition of ACI 318, "Building Code for Structural Concrete Code Requirements and Commentary". This is the first edition of ACI 318 in six years. All significant changes in this edition of the code will be presented and discussed. This includes changes centered around the topics of the addition of post-installed reinforcing bars, anchorage of closely spaced bars, clarified and updated one-way shear provisions, clarified and expanded seismic requirements, the new sustainability and resilience appendix, the new performance-based wind design appendix, and numerous other changes.

The seminar will be presented by several industry-leading experts, such as Robert J. Frosch, PhD, PE, FACI, FASCE, Professor and Vice Provost, Purdue University; Andy Taylor, PhD, SE, FACI, Associate, KPFF Consulting Engineers; Catherine E. French, PE, FACI, FPCI, Distinguished Professor, University of Minnesota; and Engineers from ACI, including Khaled Nahlawi, PhD, PE; Michael L. Tholen, PhD, PE; Gregory M Zeisler, PE; and Matthew R. Senecal, PE.

All ACI 318-25: Changes to the Concrete Design Standard seminar attendees will receive:

  • A free hard copy of ACI CODE-318-25: Building Code for Structural Concrete-Code Requirements and Commentary
  • One-year subscription to ACI 318 PLUS
  • Lecture notes
  • Continuing Education Credit: 7.5 PDH / 0.75 CEU

This seminar will be hosted on the following dates and at the following locations: 

  • September 16: Farmington Hills, Mich., at ACI Headquarters 
  • September 24: Elk Grove Village, Ill., at the ACI Resource Center
  • October or November: Columbia, Md., at the ACI Resource Center with a specific date TBD. 
  • October or November: Orlando, Fla., specific date and location TBD. 
  • October or November: Pflugerville, Texas, specific date and location TBD. 
  • October or November: San Bernardino, Calif., at the ACI Resource Center with a specific date TBD. 
  • October or November: Sacramento, Calif., specific date and location TBD. 


ACI 562-25: Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures—Code Requirements and Commentary

This seminar will introduce ACI 562-25, Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures—Code Requirements and Commentary. The latest version of the Code includes numerous updates, three new chapters, and a new appendix. The companion guide provides expanded information and project examples to assist users in interpreting and applying the provisions.

This seminar will be presented by David G. Tepke, PE, of SKA Consulting Engineers, Inc., FACI, and Khaled Nahlawi, PhD, PE, Distinguished Engineer of the American Concrete Institute.

All ACI 562-25: Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures—Code Requirements and Commentary seminar attendees will receive:

  • MNL-3(20): Guide to the Code for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures
  • 562-25 Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures and Commentary
  • Lecture notes including 11 Concrete International articles on the Evolution of the 562 Code
  • Continuing Education Credit: 7.5 PDH / 0.75 CEU


This seminar will be presented on November 13 at the ACI Resource Center in Columbia, Maryland.
