Knauf Insulation Inc. announced a significant investment in its Shelbyville, Ind., operations. The expansion reflects Knauf’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and meeting the growing needs of its customers while strengthening long-term growth.

The investment includes major upgrades to existing pipe insulation production, the installation of a new state-of-the-art pipe production line, and expanded glass capacity to support both pipe and blowing wool products. Together, these enhancements will modernize operations, boost capacity, and further position Knauf as a leader in sustainable, automated, and digital manufacturing solutions.

“This investment reflects Knauf’s unwavering focus on innovation and sustainability,” said Matt Parrish, CEO of Knauf Insulation, Inc. “By expanding and modernizing our capabilities in Shelbyville, we’re ensuring our customers continue to receive the highest quality products while reinforcing our confidence in the market’s long-term growth.”

Upgrades include:

  • Scheduled upgrades to the existing line will optimize operations, improve efficiency, and expand product output.
  • New dedicated pipeline: A fully automated, energy-efficient production line will significantly increase insulation capacity and advance Knauf’s technology leadership.
  • Expanded blowing wool capacity: As previously announced, an additional blowing wool line will be commissioned in Q2 2026, further supporting residential and commercial demand.
  • This investment supports Knauf’s broader strategy to “future-proof” its operations—integrating advanced technologies, enhancing sustainability, and scaling production to serve evolving customer needs.

“Knauf’s commitment extends beyond our facilities to the impact our products have on the built environment,” said Heather Cykoski, chief commercial officer. “With this investment, we are also moving closer to our milestone of being 100 percent formaldehyde-free by the end of 2025—an industry first for fiberglass insulation. It’s a powerful step toward a more sustainable future for generations to come.”
