Muddskip Links Wall-Finishing Technology to New Trades Mentorship and Support Initiative
A new initiative connected to Muddskip’s wall-finishing technology aims to fund trades scholarships, mentorship, recovery resources and small business support for construction professionals.

In the wall and ceiling industry, jobsite performance is often measured in the small details—clean joints, consistent finish, and crews that show up ready to work. A new initiative called "It’s the Little Things that Matter" is built on that same idea, but focused on the people behind the work. The program was formed in memory of Randy Cross, Collin Cross and Drake Hardison, three individuals described as representing the craft, the entrepreneurial drive and the technical mindset found across the trades.
The group’s stated mission is to provide education resources without shame, support without judgment, and pathways to new beginnings for tradespeople. The organization also aims to connect individuals to recovery support, offer mentorship and help people who want to start a business in the trades through scholarships and early-stage entrepreneurial support.
The initiative was created in response to loss tied to realities many contractors recognize on the ground: health emergencies, substance use and suicide. The group frames its approach as turning personal grief into community-level action, with the goal of building a network that supports people before they leave the workforce—or never make it back.
Funding for the effort is tied to Muddskip’s wall-finishing technology, which the organization describes as a conduit to support the nonprofit’s programs. The group says it plans to align with like-minded partners across the industry to expand mentorship, trades scholarships and startup support over time.
