Gypsum Management & Supply continues expanding its distribution footprint in South Florida with the acquisition of Above Interior Distributors Inc., a Miami-area supplier focused on specialty acoustical and ceiling systems.

The acquisition, announced March 4, adds a distributor serving the Miami-Dade metro area and broader South Florida market. Above Interior Distributors supplies acoustical ceiling products, specialty ceiling materials and related building products used in commercial interior assemblies. The company will continue operating under its existing brand while becoming part of GMS Southeast, the regional platform for GMS operations in the area.

For contractors installing suspended acoustical ceiling systems, the deal expands local access to specialty ceiling components and related materials through the GMS network. Greater distribution density can affect jobsite logistics, lead times and material availability, factors that directly influence scheduling and labor productivity on commercial interiors.

According to John Turner Jr., president and CEO of GMS, adding the distributor strengthens the company’s coverage of specialty acoustical and ceiling product lines across South Florida while supporting service levels for contractors and customers in the region.

The acquisition follows The Home Depot’s $5.5 billion purchase of GMS in September, after which the distributor began operating under SRS Distribution, Home Depot’s specialty trade distribution subsidiary. The integration positions GMS within a broader supply network serving professional contractors across multiple building trades.

For wall and ceiling contractors, the continued consolidation among building materials distributors may influence product sourcing, delivery capacity and regional stocking strategies—particularly for commercial assemblies that combine gypsum board partitions with suspended acoustical ceiling systems.

GMS’s most recent acquisition before this transaction was Brown Machinery in October 2025, a distributor of EIFS, stucco, concrete block and masonry products.
