NFPA 241 Gaps Spotlighted in Ramtech 2026 Whitepaper
Updated whitepaper details NFPA 241 compliance challenges, wireless solutions, and jobsite safety.

Ramtech has released a 2026 edition of its whitepaper, *Closing the Gaps in Construction Fire Safety*, highlighting persistent challenges with NFPA 241 adoption. Drawing on field-tested experience with contractors such as Barton Malow, the report examines where outdated practices and minimum-code compliance leave large, complex projects exposed.
The whitepaper provides early insight into anticipated 2026 revisions to NFPA 241, including stricter site security, enhanced guidance for mass timber, clearer Fire Prevention Program Manager (FPPM) responsibilities, and stronger alignment with other NFPA and International Fire Code standards.
James Pecz, Ramtech’s North America lead and NFPA 72/241 Temporary Fire Alarm Task Group member, emphasizes that inconsistent adoption and reliance on older editions create real risks on active sites. “Wireless detection and notification systems can bridge these gaps, protecting workers, assets, and schedules while supporting best-practice compliance,” he said.
Kyle Jarvenpaa of Space Age Electronics underscores the practical impact on jobsite operations. Large, multi-floor projects require that every worker is alerted promptly, and safety teams have real-time visibility. Wireless systems transform complex safety plans into actionable, coordinated responses.
The report also includes case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of temporary wireless systems. On projects such as the $1 billion Hudson’s Detroit development and a $1.3 billion California resort, these systems delivered comprehensive coverage for all personnel, even before permanent fire detection systems were operational.
Ramtech’s newly opened U.S. office in Charlotte, North Carolina, reinforces its commitment to supporting contractors nationwide with fast, secure, and scalable wireless fire safety solutions. The whitepaper serves as a guide for construction teams to navigate NFPA 241 compliance, enhance site safety, and leverage technology to protect workers and maintain project schedules.
